Jean Paul Boyer

Paris Art Web - Sculpture - Jean Paul Boyer Jean Paul Boyer | Born 1942 | French

Jean Paul Boyer was born to a family of farmers in 1942 in Champeaux, a small village in the Green Perigod area of France. As a child, Jean Paul Boyer already molded clay and whittled wood to give play the dimension of fun he needed: airplanes, tanks, boats, and figures, without realizing this was a form of sculpture. As a young man, Jean Paul Boyer became aware of the latter and started to copy works of art in the Louvre museum trying to learn on his own the secrets and the techniques of the art masters.

The first exhibition of Jean Paul Boyer was held in 1969 in Arpajon. Many other regional exhibitions followed, and his work was first accepted for the traditional Autumn Art Fair in 1980. He became then a society member the following year, remaining so for more than ten years. His first international exhibition was held in Rottenburg in Bavaria, Germany. Then, his international activity grew after the MAC2000 fair in 1991.

The sensevity of Jean Paul Boyer, fueled by his perfect technique, calls for the sensetive imagination of an interpreter so as to complete his work of art and bring it to life. Such are Jean Paul Boyer's originality and merit.

Modular Sculptures

In the beginning, the spectator just looks, intrigued, moving around the sculpture without approaching; keeping away looking for the line, the barrier that mustn't be crossed, the frontier that recalls the rules and conventions when admiring a work of art. There is no "do not touch" sign; indeed, Jean Paul Boyer invites the spectator to de-structure his abstract, figurative, or geometrical works, so as to create new ones. "It is not so much the sculpture that is changed, but the space that surrounds it", Jean Paul Boyer specifies.

Through his modular sculptures, Jean Paul Boyer provides an occasion for us to feel like artists ourselves. It is our turn to invent, imagine, and to enter a fictional, allegoric world composed of bronze, resin, marbre, wood, and glass. To date, more than 700 modular sculptures have been created by Jean Paul Boyer. The majority of the sculptures of Jean Paul Boyer have been exhibited in international art galleries and Parisian and international art shows.
